Breeam ‘Excellent’ DfE offices handed over five weeks early
05 January 2015
Napper Architects have completed the new offices for the Department of Education in Darlington. Procured through the Scape Framework and delivered by Willmott Dixon Construction, the completed building was handed over to Darlington Borough Council five weeks ahead of programme, allowing the DfE to take early occupation at the start of 2015.
The four storey building, providing 4000sqm of office accommodation including a collaborative area shared by the DfE and Darlington Council, has achieved a Breeam 'Excellent' Rating, providing Darlington Town Centre with a development which illustrates best practice in sustainable building design, construction and operation.
The building is the first construction forming part of the future redevelopment of the Town Centre fringe, creating a new public realm along the River Skerne to link with the Grade 1 listed St. Cuthbert's Church.
